Who we are
Footprints in the Forest is a forest school run by Elle Peate. We decide how the details you share with us are used. You can reach us at hello@forestschool.wales.
What we collect
When you join the founding families list, we collect your first name, your surname if you give it, your email address, your phone number if you give it, your children's ages (and the month and year each was born, if you give them), the sessions and days you're interested in, when you'd like to start, whether you'd like a chat, the language you'd like emails in, the first half of your postcode if you give it, and how you heard about us. We also record when you agreed to hear from us, and the words you agreed to.
We only ask for your children's ages and, if you like, the month and year they were born, never their names, and we never collect details from children.
Why we collect it
To tell you when places open and to send occasional news from the woods. Ages, interests, days and postcode areas also help us plan sessions that suit local families, and a month of birth lets us tell you when funded childcare could start. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who else handles it
A small number of trusted services help us run the website and the list: Cloudflare (hosting, spam protection and our database, which is kept in the European Union) and Resend (sending email). They only use your details on our instructions. Where a service handles data outside the UK, UK-approved safeguards are in place. We never sell your details or share them for anyone else's marketing.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to remove you, or two years after we last heard from you, whichever comes first. If you start to join but never confirm your email, what you typed is deleted after a week.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, to correct them or to delete them, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. The links in our emails let you do most of it yourself: "Change your answers" corrects them, and "Leave the list" deletes them there and then. Or reply to any of our emails, or write to hello@forestschool.wales.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, please email us so we can put it right. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Counting visits
We count visits to this website with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you to other websites: it tells us roughly how many people visit, which pages they read and how quickly the pages load.
We also count, day by day, how many people open the join form, are sent a code and confirm it. These are totals only, with nothing about who.
Cookies
This website doesn't use cookies for advertising or tracking. Our spam check, Cloudflare Turnstile, may store a small piece of information to tell people from bots, which the form needs to work safely.
